Week 9 ~ How to Get a Good Night's Sleep!

Your Pregnancy: Week 9

Baby's now the size of a green olive!Your little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood (baby-hood*). Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby! credit-www.thebump.com

This weeks post is a week late because all I want to do is sleep.  I am not normally a nap person, but these days, when I lay down, I sleep!  It's actually kind of nice for a change!  I had 2 really bad days this week which knocked me down for 2 more days, but then felt better later in the week.  I relied heavily on the motion sickness bracelets and smelling peppermint essential oil and of course, lots of sleep and rest.

Something new i learned this week was how to get a better night's sleep.  One night i was woken up about 10 times by either children, noises outside, bathroom trips, or dreams, which makes for a really unpleasant day.  That added on to a couple of other nights of not good sleep made me not feel so well.  My midwife told me to take some calcium magnesium (i take 2 tablets from Beeyoutiful) and drink a cup of Sleepy Time Tea (from the store-Celestial Seasonings) just before going to bed.  I got the best nights sleep that night!  So I've continued doing this every night, and so far, my sleep has been more restful.  I did have to reduce the amount of liquid i made the tea in though, so i wouldn't be getting up to go to the bathroom all night : )

*Just for the record, I do not agree with the term used above "fetus."  I do inherently believe that a baby is alive and has a soul from the moment of conception.  Calling a baby a fetus is just a way to minimize the effect of it's God given purpose in this world (whether inside the womb or out) in the event that a mother would choose to end her baby's life.  It makes the baby not sound so "real" if it is just called a "fetus." I do try to correct the word usage with my own terminology in parenthesis.

Hope you are having a terrific and blessed week!
